Arbor Day School 2006

By Suzanne Surtees, Curriculum Leader, W.O. Mitchell Elementary

W.O.Mitchell was selected as Arbor Day School 2006 and celebrated Arbor Day on May 11th with a spring concert presentation called "A Nature Walk".  In preparation for this event we had an artist come into our school and work with the students to produce art on the theme of trees.  The result was incredible and has made everyone extremely proud.  We also took part in a program called “Kananaskis in the Classroom”, that allowed us to reacquaint ourselves with nature's wonders.  This prepared us to celebrate Arbor Day by more knowledgeably presenting our program.
