Henry Wise Wood/Xerox Partnership Support Calgary Interfaith Food Bank

By Scott Garen, Curriculum Leader, Henry Wise Wood High School

On Friday, March 17, sixteen Henry Wise Wood students, two teachers (Scott Garen and Cheryl Belliveau), Principal Jim Langley and Assistant Principal Monty Slim were accompanied by four employees from Xerox in Calgary to spend the afternoon volunteering at the Calgary Interfaith Food bank. It truly was an amazing and gratifying experience.

The school/business partnership is an unique program that offers students the chance to have contact with those in the business world.  Working together, the students and varied staff (teachers, administration & career practitioner) meet with our business partner regularly to raise money for special school projects at Henry Wise Wood High School.  Parents are also welcome to join the team.  Students learn a great deal from the diverse group of adults, improve their leadership abilities and gain confidence as they plan for their futures.  Once a year, the group selects a charitable activity in an effort to give back to the community.

Congratulations to the successful Henry Wise Wood/Xerox Partnership!
