Communications Committee

Welcome to the Communications Committee page.

The focus of the committee centers around celebrating the work and accomplishments of Calgary Local 38 teachers, and engaging them in their professional organization.

As a member/stakeholder engagement has been identified as an important ATA Provincial, Local and Communications Committee goal, we have identified the need for professional development in the area of stakeholder engagement and are committed to supporting members in gaining valuable leadership skills.

Committee Overview:

The Communications Committee is responsible for:
  • assisting the President, Executive Committee and the Council of School Representatives to develop public relations programs;
  • coordinating communications with other Local committees;
  • developing and distributing Internet-based communications for Local members, producing issue-based publications and informing Local members of ATA publications;
  • developing the content and architecture of the Local's website;
  • other projects as requested by the Executive Committee.

The committee is comprised of up to eight Local 38 members, the Local President, and two representatives from the Executive Committee. The committee chair is an elected position and also acts as the Local Communications Officer, the key contact for provincial ATA regarding communications issues.
