Kelly Thomas // Lake Bonavista

Kelly is a phenomenal teacher who is always well prepared and ready to take on the day. I am a new teacher to grade 1/2 this year and with all the changes of the pandemic it has been an overwhelming start. Kelly has walked me through each step of these new grades from staying late to lesson plan to showing me the ropes of IPP's.   She is quick to make connections between curriculum and meaningful exciting new lessons. Students truly come first to her no matter the situation or stress levels.

Isabelle Crépin // Branton

Isabelle splits her duties between teaching Grade 7 Math and being our learning strategist. She has job shared her math role for years and both teachers are a seamless team! This year, after the sudden departure of the Math Learning Leader, Isabelle stepped up to the role and has handled it beautifully. Then, when our full-time learning strategist took a mid-year retirement, Isabelle stepped into that role too.  She stepped into it with enthusiasm, organization, compassion, and open communication. Six short weeks later, she began handling all roles in a remote environment. She organizes IPPs, ELL assessments, leads her Math team, heads to multiple teaching teams' meetings (groups of homerooms), phones parents, meets virtually with kids on Mondays to get them organized for the week, and provides assistance to students in various subjects. Don't forget, her *main* job is teaching Math! How she does it, I truly don't know. But somehow, she does it with a great attitude. She's kind, clear, helpful, frank, creative, funny, and understanding. In a single word, she is indomitable.  Isabelle Crépin does this all in French! I mean, come on. The woman's a superhero.

Golara Peyman // Edgemont

Golara has worked only 4 years with the board yet commands skills & presence of a seasoned teacher well beyond her years. She is flexible, personable & always willing to learn. We have worked together on the same grade 2 team for the last 3 years and I have seen her grow so much in her teaching! Like so many affected by Covid, she has truly raised the bar and continues to do her best to support the students & staff at Edgemont! This year, due to a shift in numbers, she accepted a transition to teach grade 4.  Never one to complain.  Always ready to bloom where she is planted!

Jackie Bates // Eric Harvie

Jackie works harder than anyone I know. She cares about each student and knows all of their stories. She spends her time helping other teachers refine their practice and goes beyond expectations to make sure everyone has what they need to succeed. She dreams up and implements inventive programs to help students with a variety of learning needs. If there is something that needs doing, she gets it done. She has a great rapport with parents and communicates with them daily. Not only is she a terrific teacher but she is an amazing mom to two incredible kids!

Sarah Greenfield // Bowness

Sarah is always positive. She goes the extra mile (kilometre) for her students. She truly wants all of them to be successful in her class and in life.
