I'm sitting here writing this partly as a way of avoiding doing some other work. I have given some thought to the issues facing senior high school teachers. Actually, all teachers face these issues. One of these is the issue of fairness. There should be an expectation that all teachers throughout the system should face the same working conditions. If conditions in schools in one area of the CBE differ from those in another, then teachers are not being treated fairly.
The transfer process differs from year to year, and teachers never know what to expect should they wish to transfer. Sometimes positions are posted and are open to those wishing to make a move. Sometimes positions are not posted, denying those who might wish to transfer the opportunity.
I do not think it unreasonable that we be treated fairly. There should be a fair and consistent transfer process. All positions must be posted and made open to all qualified teachers. Teaching conditions should not vary from area to area. We need to have consistency throughout the system.
