Latest Updates
Find the most up-to-date essential information here!
Weekend of October 25-27, 2025
Bargaining status:
Local 38 has not been advised of any scheduled negotiations between TEBA and CTBC, although these can still occur over the weekend.
Teachers will continue to be on strike on Monday October 27.
Updates on any progress in bargaining, or on the Government's planned Bill 2 (
Back to School Act
/ return-to-work legislation) will be sent via a Members' update email.
If you have not signed up or are not receiving Members' Update emails, visit the provincial ATA site
!
RALLY RECAP:
The provincial ATA estimates attendance at yesterday's rally
exceeded 30,000 people
, easily making it one of the largest public demonstrations ever held at Alberta's provincial legislature.
Share a message of solidarity:
The past three weeks have been incredibly difficult for teachers, leaving many feeling isolated and disconnected.
Please take a moment to record/share a video expressing your solidarity and support for your teacher colleagues
- a compilation (or several compilations) of these messages will be sent out to help bring people back together.
We want your photos!
We're putting out a call for submissions from teachers - if you have any photos from your time during job action that you'd like to share with others,
please upload them
! Maybe you got together with colleagues, attended a rally, spent time with family, or did an awesome activity that helped pass the time? Please share! (You can also just email your photo to
Strike2025@submit.memento.com
as a file attachment – your email subject line will be the photo caption!)
Friday, October 24, 2025
Bargaining status:
The Alberta Government
indicated on Thursday
that they planned to introduce Bill 2, the
Back to School Act
on Monday, October 27th.
It is widely assumed that this will remove teachers' charter right to strike and direct a return to work soon after it is passed.
Teachers will continue to be on strike on Monday, October 27th.
If no negotiated settlement occurs over the weekend and this legislation is introduced, Provincial Executive Council will examine the wording of the legislation once it's released and advise members on our next actions. This advice will be issued to members via email through the Members' Update email!
If you have not signed up or are not receiving Members' Update emails, visit the provincial ATA site
