The 2024 Beginning Teachers' Conference (Calgary) will be held at the

October 4–5, 2024

Registration is open to teachers in their first two years of classroom teaching, and those teachers new to teaching in the province, who have not previously attended the conference.

Early registration is appreciated as space is limited and registration may close if capacity is reached. Beginning teachers with the Calgary Board of Education are eligible for substitute coverage to attend this conference. ATA Local 38 will also reimburse each attendee $50 for incidental expenses associated with attending the conference.

Please note: Substitute teachers should not attend the Beginning Teachers Conference but should plan to attend the Substitute Teachers’ Conference being held on 2024 October 18 & 19 at the Fantasyland Hotel in Edmonton.

REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS

1. Register for the conference online with the ATA by clicking this LINK


2. Register with the ATA Local 38 Office for a substitute code and to receive funding.
   • Contact Myra Hoffman at the Calgary Public Teachers Local 38 office by email at myra.hoffman@ata38.ab.ca or by telephone at 403-262-6616 ext 260 prior to 2024 October 1.
   • Explain that you have registered for the Beginning Teachers Conference in Calgary on 2024 October 4–October 5.
   • You will be given a sub code to use if you require a substitute for Friday and added to the list to receive your incidental expense of $50. DO NOT SHARE THE SUB CODE!
   • All teachers must register with the local themselves or they will not have sub coverage paid!


3. After attendance at the conference is confirmed, you will be issued your funds via direct deposit. Please submit banking information to Local 38 if you have not done so previously.
