Retroactive Pay Process For Retired Teachers

Deadline to apply is 2026 January 15

On 2025 October 27, the government of Alberta passed legislation (the Back to School Act) that imposed a settlement on central table bargaining matters.

Part of this Imposed Agreement included retroactive salary provisions.

Any income earned by a teacher during the period from 2024 September 1 through 2025 November 30 is subject to retroactive pay adjustments based on the new salary grids imposed by that legislation.

If a teacher had resigned or retired and was no longer employed by the Calgary Board of Education on 2025 October 28, you must contact CBE to request your retroactive pay. Current teachers (i.e., teachers employed in some capacity by CBE on 2025 October 28) will automatically be included in retroactive pay calculations and need take no action.
