Nabeela Cokar // Thorncliffe

Nabeela made initial contact with me because we were both Grade 4 HUB teachers.  We have since then created our own planning group, sharing resources and virtual classroom tips.  Nabeela has been very generous in helping me figure out Google Classroom, and how to use different online tools.  I have been on maternity leave for 2.5 years, so I missed all of the last-minute training last year for running a virtual classroom.  I am looking forward to continuing my virtual school year with her on my side, and sharing all of our plans and resources.

Alexandra Collard // Connaught

Allie Collard is pure wisdom and kindness. I was fortunate to partner teacher with her for one year. Allie inspires her students to become global citizens and to take their learning beyond the classroom and into the world around them. She makes learning for her students relevant to their lives and to what is going on in the world beyond their doors. She opens their minds to see how people in other cultures and countries live. From that her students build a passion for education and a personal connection to people around the world, that they carry with them through out their lives.  Allie's inquiry based and creativity driven practice inspires students to ask questions and explore answers in  ways that a pencil and paper miss. Allie's inherent gentleness and sense of calm puts her students in a frame of mind that allows for deeper thinking. Any student who has had or will have Ms. Collard as a teacher should count their blessings. I am sure they will treasure their time with her as I have!

Shannon Lloyd // McKenzie Lake

Shannon always goes above and beyond for her students. She makes sure that her class is a safe and caring place. She builds strong relationships with her students and they are always so excited to see her every morning. Not only is she an amazing teacher, but she is hard working and cares about other teachers at school as well.

Colleen Wagenblast // Bridlewood

Colleen is a kind and wonderful teacher.  She approaches new challenges with positive energy and is ready to learn.  She has started teaching in HUB and although she claims she is not tech savy she continues to try new techniques and share her learning with the other HUB teachers at her school.  She is a great colleague and just a wonderful person.

Stefanie Davies // William Reid

She is a teacher that goes the extra mile! She is always so patient and understanding with her students and colleagues. She volunteers to help out all the time and is always there to offer ideas or support in the school.

Sara Scherschel // Kenneth Taylor

Sara has taken on a new grade every year and is now teaching online. She makes extraordinary effort to connect with her students of all abilities. She is creative and supportive to others. Last year she did a fabulous job of doing our weekly message for students with creativity.

Lynn Barchuk // West Dover

Lynn is a dedicated teacher of students in one of our EES programs. She is creative and thoughtful when programming for some of our most challenging learners. From supporting students on the spectrum; with complex medical needs; and those needing extra supports. From bringing music to students to building life skills, Lynn is a rock star! When everyone moved to remote online learning, Lynn stepped up her game and embraced the unknown world of remote teaching. She was eager to connect with other teachers and share the resources she created. Thanks for all you do!

Jennifer McCann // Varsity Acres

Jennifer is an exceptional French language teacher who's expertise in literacy and numeracy need to recognized and celebrated.   She willingly shares this expertise with colleagues both "in house" and across the division and I have learned so much from her even after changing schools.  Because of Jennifer's influence, I have been able to create learning tasks that support the growth and development of my students in rich and meaningful ways.   In math, the low floor, high ceiling tasks she designs really help students engage in math in creative ways with multiple entry points.  I believe she is very  deserving of this nomination.

Amber Gallagher // West Ridge

Amber is a dedicated professional who goes out of her way daily to improve the lives of those who are fortunate enough to be in her class. She teaches with passion and dedication and continually strives for excellence. Her teaching is full of rich lessons and she is always willing to learn and share with colleagues.  Amber has been my partner teacher for 14 years. She taught me how to team teach, lessons learned from our current president Bob Cocking. She is flexible, creative and always gives 100 percent. Her passion for teaching and learning is evident in all that she does.

Kim Schumacher // MidSun

Kim works hard for both her students, their parents AND her teaching team. She is a great math teacher, and a supportive partner teacher. She truly cares about her students, and strives to get the best out of them by setting an awesome example everyday.
